It's a beach and a 24-hour party; Mexico's go-to locale and a vacation within a city. With seemingly everything going for it—cinematic Cabo resorts and beautiful weather included—it's easy to lose track of the fact that Cabo is no different from any other city; it too has a set of standards and generally understood conditions that those who visit should remain aware of.
As a city for partying, Cabo is relentless. Not in the sense that is has too many engative qualities, but that there are too many opportunities for celebrating that in all likelihood, you won't get a tenth of it finished by the end of your stay.
As with any mathematical equation that combined dark settings plus throbbing music plus alcohol, there are a few precautions you should consider tossing into the mix including:
* Don't travel by yourself at night—guys included.
* Always carry an I.D.
* Do not accept drinks from strangers unless you watch the bartender make it.
* Keep your billfold light.
As a stretch of beaches, Cabo is safe, and no different from any other beach. Swimming, boating, snorkeling—they're all welcomed here. But similar to every other beach, the few, loosely heeded rules are as follows:
* Beware of the sudden drops in the ocean.
* Do not swim alone.
* Do not swim at night.
Nothing too taxing, right?
The streets of Cabo, well, are another story. They are safe, per say, but like late 19th century New York City, pick pocketing is a practice that still manages to sully a vacation every once in a while. Remember, travel light; you only need small bills and plastic (charge cards and identification) on your person at all times.
